It could be. You may open a claim at your local post office now. But as mentioned previously international items may stay in transit for up to 2 months.

This is not a problem of our system (bug, or misupdate etc.) This package has NOT YET actually arrived to the US. Please be more patient, it is new year after all. Your package will probably arrive on JAN5 or later. It is not yet time to worry until at least JAN5.

Probably not. Items to CIS may take up to 3 months to get updates during New Year peak. You shouldn't worry until at least 9.03.17. Trust me, I know, I live in Kazakhstan.

Глупости не говорите! 3 месяца, да бывает, но очень и очень редко (у меня было лишь дважды за несколько лет). Если месяц-полтора нет обновлений, следует начинать волноваться и подавать на розыск.

А может я только такой невезучий? У меня было 3 месяца или больше 4 раза с 1ЯНВ16, вот они:
Февраль, РФ, мелпак
Март, Ботсвана, мелпак
Сеньтябрь, Филлипины, письмо ценное
Сеньтябрь, Чили, посылка
Самое последнее, вообще ещё в пути, предпоследнее только вчера в страну назначения поступило.

I sent two parcels from Georgia to the United States by EMS. One, which I sent on Jan. 11 already shows on the usps.com site, but the other - EE 001301744 GE - which I sent on Dec. 31 show no signs of life on the usps.com site. On the site of the Georgian Post though it shows as 'sent to the destination country' on the same day, Dec. 31. Is there any way to track where in the world the parcel may be now? The Georgian Post tells me it's not in Georgia for sure.

You should try opening a claim at your local EMS office. Just tell them that 2 weeks passed and your item has not even reached the US. They should then inquire into the question and should they determine the item was lost, they should issue a money refund to you (the refund amount is shipping cost + declared value)
